1910— Carl Berger founded Berger Transfer with just a
horse & cart used to move household goods from the railroad
depot to homes of new arrivals in Minneapolis. |

1940s—Continuing
the legacy of his father, Harold Berger took over the company.
Berger began moving uncartoned new
furniture from factories to retail stores and from
retail stores to residences within several hundred miles
of the Twin Cities.

1949—Robert
D. Dircks purchased fifty percent of
Berger. Berger
renamed Berger Transfer & Storage, Inc., and
opened its first branch office in Chicago.

1952—Robert
D. Dircks purchased the fifty
percent interest of Harold Berger and became the sole owner of
Berger Transfer. |

1955—Berger
became involved in the truckload business after successfully
hauling the store fixtures from LA to
Southdale shopping mall in Edina, MN—the first indoor
shopping mall in the US. |

1960s—Berger
began to expand its household goods business and began to move
high-value products such as computers, medical equipment, copy
machines and large cameras. |
|
1960s—Berger
became a pioneer in the development of flat floor electronic
trailers, air-ride suspension, climate-controlled trailers and
many material handling items used in the movement of high-value
products. |

1975—Berger
became a major competitor of household goods moving in
the Twin Cities’ market and an agent of Allied Van
Lines. |
|
1977—Berger
became the largest booker of high-value products in the Allied
Van Lines systems. |
|
1980—Berger
opened Dallas, TX office. |
|
1985—Berger
opened Austin, TX office. |
|
1993—Berger
opened its first west coast office in Los Angeles. |
|
1999—Berger
opened Houston, TX office. |
|
2001—Berger
experienced explosive growth with the opening of eight
new locations: Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati,
Kansas City, MO, Atlanta, Charlotte and
Louisville. |

2003--Berger
established a presence in the northeast with the opening of a
new office in Ramsey, NJ. |
|
2005--Berger
began operations in San Antonio, TX bringing its total locations
to fifteen. |

2008--Berger
established a presence in the southwest by acquiring
locations in Mesa & Phoenix. |
|
2010--Berger celebrates 100
years and establishes a greater
presence in the southeast by opening
locations in Tampa Bay and Sarasota. |
